Goldberg

The Danish Web-Magazine « Goldberg » asked me to design a periodical print version of their magazine. Although it’s a Jewish oriented magazine, its aim is to appeal to all Danish ethnic minority groups and to a broader age group.

Editor in Chief: Tine Bach. Board Director: Henrik Borberg, with Eva Bøggild, Christopher Borberg and Martin von Haller Grønbæk. Writers: Susanne Bernth, Sara Kviat Bloch, Lasse Dencik, Hans Henrik Fafner, Silvia Goldbaum Tarabini Fracapane, Miriam Gelfer-Jørgensen, Ditte Goldschmidt, Fran Hopenwasser, Steffen Jensen, Miriam Katz, Jeanne Kempinski, Martin Krasnik, Noa Agnet Metz, Gretty Mirdal, Samuel Rachlin, Hanne Trautner-Kromann, Dan Tschernia, Peter Tudvad. With: Delfine Horvilleur, Ohad Naharin, Marc-Alain Ouaknin, Tal R., Tal Shoshat… Creative Director: Christian Kirk-Jensen.

The strength of diversity
Goldberg is Denmark’s only written ethnic minority magazine that does not address a narrowly defined group, e.g. a congregation, but to the entire Danish-speaking population. The general editorial line is based on the fact that Goldberg sees diversity as a strength, and that a Jewish touch both has a value in itself and can contribute to the general debate. That’s what gives the magazine its identity.
The magazine is for anyone interested in cultural topics both at home and abroad: Jews, readers with some connection to the Jewish, and readers for whom a Jewish point of view can be of inspiration, e.g. by reading articles on Judaism and feminism, on a German Holocaust refugee becoming a Swedish playboy, on biblical motifs in classical and modern art, on Jewish anti-heroes in film and theater, on minority identities among the world stars of culture and on current exhibitions, new literature and music as well as dives into art history, archeology and philosophy. In other words, Goldberg covers a very wide range of topics in culture, society, religion, politics and history.
Through well-written and well-disseminated articles, the magazine will help to create a dialogue about an ethnic, religious and cultural minority and show that diversity is a strength in Danish society. Our ambition is for Goldberg to be a role model for how the minority and the majority can interact for the benefit and joy of both parties and thus want to inspire other minorities in Denmark.
